Micah

Okay, so I realize that we have not updated our blog in over a month. We have some really good reasons for that. Here is our month in review...

On April 18th at 1:46 pm, our sweet little baby boy was born. Micah weighed 7lbs 3oz and was 20 1/2 inches long. My labor and delivery was amazing. On Thursday morning I woke up and had a handful of strong contractions that stopped after a few minutes. Then, I felt like there was a rock in my stomach for most of the day. I thought that I might have a really bad case of heartburn or the beginnings of food poisoning. Around 4:30 pm I called my midwife's office and spoke with a nurse who told me that just to be safe we should go to the hospital. I called Seth and told him what they had said but I also told him to take his time (I really wasn't feeling that bad). By the time he got home at 5:30, I was begging him to get me to the hospital. : ) The contractions were coming strong. When we got there they admitted me pretty quickly and after a few attempts to get an IV in my arm (ouch!), they gave me an epidural. After that I could still feel the contractions but they were not bad at all. When it was time to push, I pushed for an hour and 25 minutes. The entire labor and delivery was beautiful and almost pain free. I ate jello and popsicles the whole time. It was a great experience!!


Our first week was insane, and kind of a blur. The days were running together. Then we found out that we had to be in Virginia by the next Wednesday. The movers came a week after Micah was born and spent two days packing up our house. We hit the road on Tuesday night and drove to our new temporary hotel home. We lived in the hotel until we closed on our house May 15th. Seth was out of town the week after that (last week) on a business trip. We have finally been able to take a breath and just got our Internet a couple of days ago. That pretty much sums up where we have been for the last 5 weeks. : )

The last month has been the craziest month of my life. We are very, very lucky that Micah is such a good baby. He sleeps at night and wakes us up when he needs to eat. He has been a great crib sleeper so we are very grateful for that. He is a sweet, laid back little guy. As crazy as things are, we are very happy. We love our little man so much, and he is a wonderful blessing. I am posting tons of pictures below, so please enjoy! I am also posting a picture of our new house. We love it. I haven't taken any pictures of the backyard, but that is one of my favorite parts. It has a three tiered deck with a sun room and a pool. The backyard is fenced in for the dogs, and there are beautiful trees lining the fence. We plan on spending a lot of time outside this summer.

This is a picture of Micah taken yesterday. He now weighs 8lbs 12oz and is 21 inches long. He loves "tummy time" and can hold his head up for an impressive amount of time. He has discovered his hands and he loves making cute little noises.
