Seth had a business trip in New Orleans and I got to tag along. I loved the view from our hotel room. The street on the left is Canal Street.

Eating at the Melting Pot. YUM!!! When we called, they told us that it was 8 blocks away. So....we decided to walk. Yeah, it was actually 18 blocks away. We worked off our dinner before we even ate it. : )

Hanging out at the Riverwalk

This picture was taken right after we ate a plate full of beignets at Cafe Du Monde. Beignets are officially my new favorite food. Delicious!!!!

We went to Jackson Square and saw St. Louis Cathedral. It's the oldest Cathedral in North America.

Inside St. Louis Cathedral

My favorite part of the Cathedral visit. We thought it was so nice of them to collect money for us...
My sister-in-law Sarah came to hang out with me for a couple of days. This was our ride on the Trolley.
Bourbon Street. If you decide visit New Orleans, I would not recommend walking down this street.
Sarah is soooooo much fun! I loved having her there.
A few things to keep in mind if you ever decide to visit New Orleans...
1. The crime rate is really, really high. You have to be really careful.
2. It is very expensive. Even more expensive than NYC.
3. There is not a whole lot to do there. You can see almost everything in one full day.
4. The city has an interesting, and unpleasant smell.
5. Most of the people were really nice!
I am glad I went and had the experience, but I will probably never go back. Unless....I can't find Beignets anywhere else. : )

Sounds like an interesting place to visit. I hear the food is great. I have never had a beignet before either! I guess I might have to travel there to get one.
I suppose this shows my cuisine ignorance, but what is a beignet?
Yeah I don't know either.
Oh, great. I guess I can cross New Orleans off my "Top Ten Places to Visit" list. :) Thanks for the advice.
Wikipedia says....A beignet ([bεn.je] pronounced ben–YAY, from the Middle French word for "bump"), in American English, refers to a French doughnut being a pastry made from deep-fried dough and sprinkled with confectioner's sugar.
Carrie says....A beignet refers to a really delicious dessert that I want to eat all the time!!!! : )
You can get beignets in France. So don't spend all your hard earned dollars going to some stinky, expensive, dangerous city pretending to be French - go to France and get all the beignets you want, plus a wonderful country to eat them in!
I concur with Shelley. France is the place for beignets. How do you think I went from being a stick before my mission to the fatty chubbster I am today?? Two years of beignets and other delicious pastries.
